If there is anything Tom Cruise could not bear, it’s the thought of having people accuse him of being an uncaring father. He is suing the publisher of Life &Style Magazine for their story suggesting Cruise had abandoned daughter Suri. The actor’s lawyer, Bert Fields, announced the filing of the lawsuit on Wednesday.
Fields revealed the details of the lawsuit in a press release for the media claiming that the magazine was being sued by the actor for $50 million dollars. According to Fields, Cruise was a caring father and loves Suri dearly. He claims that to say that the actor has abandoned his daughter was a vicious lie and the picture of tearful Suri made matters even worse.
Cruise has constantly been battling off media outlets following his divorce from Katie Holmes in June. Fields has been helping the actor protect his personal life including his connections to Scientology. Cruise’s lawyer has also sent threatening letters to publications such as the National Enquirer and Vanity Fair.
The recent lawsuit against Life & Style was filed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Fields also took a shot at the owner, Bauer Media group, saying the publisher has long since been serial defamers. The Hamburg-based publisher, as Fields says, “takes money from unsuspecting Americans by selling their malicious garbage”.
If Cruise wins the case, the money will be going to charity.
