Zoë Kravitz to Play Catwoman in Upcoming Batman Movie

Zoë Kravitz has joined the DC Universe as the next Catwoman.

She will be starring as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) alongside Robert Pattinson, who was previously cast as Bruce Wayne.

Back to Black

Kravitz has already played Catwoman, when she voiced the character in 2017 The Lego Batman Movie.

Her stepfather, actor Jason Momoa, shared the announcement on Instagram with a photo of them together.

Seemingly excited he wrote: “I’m so proud of u zozo bear. On and off screen OHANA. DC WB ohana Lola and Wolfies big sister is CAT WOMAN. Unbelievable so freaking stoked. You’re going to have so much fun Aloha P bear.”

Kravitz confirmed the news when she commented “LOVE YOU PAPABEAR! love that aquaman and catwomen spend the holidays together from now on.”

Stepping Into Rather Famous Cat Shoes

Some of the past actresses who have played the famous feline antihero include Eartha Kitt and Julie Newmar.

Anne Hathaway was the most recent actress to embody the cat burglar in 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Michelle Pfeiffer also portrayed Catwoman in 1992’s “Batman Returns,” while Halle Berry had the main role in 2004 Catwoman feature film. Pfeiffer, during an appearance on “Good Morning America” offered up some practical advice for Kravitz:

“Make sure whilst designing the costume they consider how you’re going to go to the bathroom,”

Anne Hathaway, offered her congratulations on the role in an Instagram post:

“The biggest congrats to @zoeisabellakravitz on landing the role of a lifetime. Well, one life anyway…Enjoy the ride, Selena.”

Still Under a Veil

There aren’t many details known about the upcoming movie, and the rest of the cast is yet to be announced.

The official filming date hasn’t been set yet, however, according to Variety’s reports it could start in late 2019 or in early 2020.

Following the record-breaking box office success of Joker, which has made $548m worldwide since its release, “The Batman” will hit theatres June 25, 2021.
