Zayn Malik had a pretty busy week with the release of his new single ”No Candle No Light”.
Fans believe this song shed some light on his relationship with Gigi Hadid but he also got very real during his interview with Vogue U.K.
He talked about One Direction, his collaboration with Taylor Swift, his alternative job and even his faith.
The Relationship
Zayne wrote “No Candle No Light” with Nicki Minaj and the song tells the story about the couple whose relationship has run its course.
It is widely believed that the song is about Zayne and Gigi’s relationship since they broke up in March after two years of dating. They got back together after just couple of weeks but fans are still speculating for the reason of their parting.
The single’s lyrics include, “We gotta, we gotta, we gotta face it, The fire, the fire ain’t no longer blazing,” and “Can’t handle my love, Can’t handle your lies, No friend zone to my love, Quit burning all of my time” so fans are thinking betrayal instantly.
However, with Malik 25 and Hadid 23 looking happier than ever, we’ll have to stay satisfied with it for now.
The Interview
During his interview with Vogue UK Zayn spilled some major information about his “Don’t Wanna Live Forever” collaborator Taylor Swift.
“She was travelling around in a suitcase,” he told the magazine and the fans just dropped their jaws wide open. It looks like back in summer 2017, Swift was hiding in a big black suitcase to escape the paparazzi in front of her Manhattan apartment.
Malik quit One Direction, made up of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, in 2015 and hasn’t looked back since. He confirmed he hasn’t stayed friends with any of the band members and that he has issues trusting people.
Zayn also opened up about what his future could have looked like had he not received that fateful call about joining One Direction. He told Vogue he would be interested in returning to school one day and that he was even “recently looking up courses.” He added, “I had kind of an idea I wanted to be a teacher.”
The former One Direction star also admitted in the same interview that he no longer considers himself to be a Muslim.
“I’m not professed to be a Muslim,” he said. “I believe whatever people’s religious beliefs are is between them and whoever or whatever they’re practicing. I don’t believe you need to eat a certain meat that’s been prayed over a certain way, I don’t believe you need to read a prayer in a certain language five times a day. I don’t believe any of it,” he said.
“I just believe if you’re a good person everything is going to go right for you.”
Malik was raised in Bradford as a Muslim by British-Pakistani father and converted-to-the religion mother. It seems like the young superstar is choosing his own path now however.
