Yves Saint Laurent dies at 71
The legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent died yesterday. He was 71.
Yves Saint Laurent was born in 1936, in what was then French Algeria. He started working for the French designer Christian Dior at the age of 17. After Dior died in 1957, he was put in charge of saving the fashion house from financial ruin. He was only 22 years old at the time.
Yves Saint Laurent started his own label, YSL, in 1962.
