Woman loses World Record fingernails in car crash

Lee Redmond, the Utah woman with the longest fingernails in the world, lost her famous Guinness Book of World Record nails in a car crash Tuesday, according to Deseretnews.com.

Redmond, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was reportedly ejected from the SUV in the crash and was taken to the hospital. She sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. The man driving the vehicle suffered a broken ankle.

According to Guinness Book of World Records, Redmond had not cut her nails since 1979.

The length of her fingernails totaled 28 ft 4.5 in (8.65 m) in 2008. Her longest nail was the right thumb, which was 2 ft 11in (90 cm) long.
