One Direction star Louis Tomlinson could be about to follow in the footsteps of Sir Elton John by buying a football club, as reports today suggest he is all set to invest in his beloved Doncaster Rovers.
Tomlinson played for Doncaster Rovers Reserves earlier this year and is a life long fan of the club, and a source revealed all to The Sun Newspaper about his “passion” of investing in the club. They said, “This is his passion project, and it will happen. He’s putting everything into it because of his love for the side. John (John Ryan current Chairman) is the business brains. He’s incredibly experienced and Louis is learning so much from him. They want the deal to go through by July in time for the start of the new season. It’s at an advanced stage.”
Sir Elton John invested in Watford back in 1976 and eventually became Chairman of the club, and it appears as though Louis could become the next musician to part own a football club. The source finished off by saying, “He and John have very ambitious plans for the club. They want to get back to the Championship within a year, and into the Premiership within three years.”
Only time will tell if Doncaster Rovers can get into the Premiership, but with Louis Tomlinson’s money they certainly have a damn good chance.
