Travis Barker sues plane company over crash

Travis Barker

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker is suing the maker of the plane (Bombardier Inc.), the company that rented him the plane (Clay Lacy Aviation) and the maker of the tires (Goodyear Tire and Rubber) in connection with the plane crash on Sept. 19 that killed four people and severely injured him and his friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein (Nicole Richie’s ex), MTV.com reports.

The lawsuit, which Travis has filed together with the mother of Travis’ bodyguard who died in the crash, alleges that the plane was defective. “Its landing gear, tires, wheels, brakes, reverse-thrust system, squat switches and component parts were not airworthy,” the lawsuit states according to TMZ.com

The suit also alleges that the pilot’s decision about the takeoff also was a factor in causing the crash.

Barker is suing for pain, suffering, mental anguish, psychological distress, disfigurement and “pre-impact fear of death and burning”, TMZ.com reports.

Barker suffered second and third-degree burns when the Learjet 60 he was on crashed and caught fire just before takeoff from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport, South Carolina.
