Nicholas Evans, the author of “The Horse Whisperer” (you know, the best-selling novel that was made into a movie which Robert Redford directed and starred in) is seriously ill after eating toxic mushrooms while in Scotland, Fox News reports.
The mushrooms he, as well has three members of the family, picked and ate turned out to be amanita virosa (commonly known as The Destroying Angel), one of the most poisonous mushrooms in Europe.
Evans and his family were taken to a hospital in Elgin. They are now said to be in serious, but stable condition.
