Taylor Swift Breaks AMA Female Artist Record

Another milestone for Taylor Swift occurred last night at the AMAs as she walked home feeling proud of herself.

The “Delicate” singer broke Whitney Houston’s record for most AMAs won by a female artist.

History Rewritten

Taylor Swift has made history breaking the record of one of the best singers of all times, Whitney Houston.

Houston earned 21 AMA trophies during her lifetime and prior to this year’s AMAs, Swift already had 19.

She was only three awards away from the record and she was nominated in even four categories: Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Album (for Reputation) and Tour of the Year (Reputation Stadium Tour).

The pop singer arrived to the event in Balmain dress and boots and the fun started when she won Tour of the Year at the beginning of the night.

She thanked her backup singers, the band and dancers and later won Favorite Pop/Rock Album of the Year. She described albums as chapters in her life and thanked her fans for believing in her and supporting her. And when the frenzy couldn’t get any higher, Lenny Kravitz called Swift to the stage as the Artist of the Year.

“I understand how lucky I am to have anyone that cares about me or my music. Every time that you have made me lucky enough to ever get to stand on a stage and have something really sparkly in my hands and say thank you, every single time this happens, it means something differently to me,” Taylor explained. “This time, it represents encouragement and motivation for me to be better, work harder and make you guys proud as much as I possibly can.”

Record Breaker

Taylor was also the youngest Album of the Year Grammy recipient for her 2009 album Fearless and the first female artist who won Album of the Year three times so she is very familiar with breaking the records and setting the bar higher each time. The next record for Swift to break is Michael Jackson’s 24 AMAs he earned during his lifetime.

This amazing event held at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday night has seen many popular artists receive awards voted by their fans.

Camila Cabello was the winner of the evening taking home four trophies, New Artist of the Year, Favorite Song, Video of the Year and Collaboration of the Year with Young Thug for “Havana”.

The Favorite Male Pop/Rock Artist went to Post Malone and Favorite Social Artist to BTS. Migos won Favorite Dup or Group while Favorite Country Male Artist went to Kane Brown and Female to Carrie Underwood.

Other winners were Rihanna, Cardi B, Khalid, Shawn Mendes, Daddy Yankee, and Marshmello. The AMA award for Favorite Soundtrack went to the amazing Black Panther: The Album, Music and Inspired By.
