Stephen Fry recently hit out at anti-Americanism among the British and he’s hit rather hard.
The comic, who published a book version of his BBC documentary Stephen Fry In America, said the attitude shows him an “inferiority complex” among the citizens of the UK.
In an interview in Good Housekeeping, he said: “When they mock America for its supposed lack of knowledge, irony or sophistication, they are revealing nothing but the pathetic inadequacy and inferiority complex of the British.
“I absolutely hate that sneering anti-Americanism. [America] has its share of nuts: out of a quarter of a billion people you’re always going to get some. But they are as polite, friendly, charming and honourable as any people I have encountered.”
