Notorious YouTube hit song Friday is no longer available to view on YouTube. The surprise move has come after a dispute with Rebecca Black’s record label flared up. Rebecca Blacks song Friday which was released back in March became a viral hit on YouTube, the song received a staggering 167 million views. Although Black received a great deal of ridicule and became the target of internet bullying, Black became something people love to hate.
Friday was reportedly taken down from YouTube after legal action against Ark Music Factory by Black’s lawyers began. It is being claimed that the company is exploiting the 13-year-old’s image.
“We can confirm that we submitted a Take Down Notice to YouTube as a result of the dispute we have with Ark Music regarding the ‘Friday’ video,” a spokesperson for Black confirmed in a statement to TMZ.
The dispute began earlier this week when Ark attempted to charge a $2.99 ‘video rental’ fee for users to watch the video, even though they don’t actually own the rights to the infamous music video.
Rebecca wrote an angry message on Twitter;
‘Thanks for all the messages regarding the $2.99 fee added to Friday video, I have NOTHING to do with this!!’
‘PS…My Manager and Lawyer are on this and are going to get to the bottom of this! Stay tuned…’
