Reality Check After Candidate Debate.

According to ABC News, not all the debate claims are exactly what you might call accurate.

After last evening’s first one on one  debate by the two presidential candidates, ABC took a look at their claims and found that in many cases, they were not exactly what might be called unalienable truth.

According to ABC here is how it wraps up:

What They said:
Obama says he “pays for every dime” of his spending proposals.

Reality Check:
The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center says that Obama’s policies would increase the debt by $3.5 trillion over 10 years. They also added that adds that McCain’s policies would lead to an even bigger increase in the debt of $5.1 trillion.

What They Said:
Obama said that McCain “wanted to give oil companies another $4 billion.”

Reality Check:
McCain’s tax proposal gives tax breaks to all companies, not just the oil ones to encourage growth. His proposal would lower the corporate tax rate 10 percent.

What they Said:
Obama “if you make less than $250,000 — less than a quarter-million dollars a year — then you will not see one dime’s worth of tax increase.”

Reality Check:
Obama has called for much higher taxes on income, as well as capital gains and dividends for individuals making $200,000 per year. Only when they are a couple is it 250,000.
