America is in for six more weeks of winter, according to Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog. from Pennsylvania who predicts the weather.. or atleast.. is said to predict the weather..
The rodent..or one of his descendants, has been “prognosticating” on the length of winter for 123 years.
Tradition in the US is that the groundhog crawls out of his burrow and if he sees his shadow it is considered an omen of how long winter will last.
Phil then tells the good news.. or bad news.. of his prediction to Bill Cooper – an elder who claims to be the only person that can speak “groundhogese”.
The story was made famous by the 1993 movie Groundhog Day, which starred Bill Murray.
