Lord of the Ring’s director, Peter Jackson, was taken to Wellington Hospital and ended up having emergency surgery to treat a stomach ulcer. He is now back at home and fears of major delays to the schedule of the much anticipated film, The Hobbit have been lifted.
The statement read: “Sir Peter’s surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to The Hobbit beyond a slight delay to the start of filming.”
The Hobbit will be shot in 3-D and the first of the two movies is scheduled to be released in December 2012.
Some cast members from the Lord of the Rings will be returning in the Hobbit; Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Cate Blanchett (Galadriel), Orlando Bloom (Legolas) and Hugo Weaving (Elrond) and Andy Serkis (Gollum). Martin Freeman will lead the cast as a younger Bilbo Baggins.
