Usmagazine.com reports that talk show host Oprah Winfrey’s all-girls boarding school near Johannesburg in South Africa has once again been rocked by a sex scandal. This time, seven students have reportedly been suspended for sexually harassing their schoolmates.
According to the Afrikaans on Sunday newspaper, one girl has been suspended after allegedly preying on a schoolmate and forcing other girls at the school to lie to investigators about the matter. Six other students have also been suspended from the school after allegedly touching each other intimately, or “intimidating others into partaking of inappropriate behaviors”.
Winfrey’s spokesperson, Lisa Halliday, has according to Contactmusic.com confirmed that the girls have violated the school’s code of conduct, but she would not say much else.
Winfrey opened Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy School For Girls in 2007. About 10 months later, 15 girls reported they had been sexually abused by a 27-year-old matron by the name of Virginia Tiny Makgobo.
Makgobo is currently facing 13 charges, including assaulting a minor to perform an indecent act. The matron has pleaded not guilty to all the charges and is due back in court on June 1, the Telegraph.co.uk reports.
