Oprah Winfrey taped “The Oprah Winfrey Show’s” “Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular” in Chicago, at the United Center on Tuesday night. In true Oprah style it was an extravaganza and the list of celebrities that joined the show is too long to mention them all! Reportedly there was a great deal of secrecy surrounding the planning of the show, to the point where none of the celebrities in attendance knew who else would be part of the show until they showed up.
To name just a few of the celebrities that joined the show, there were appearances by Tom Hanks, Madonna, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Halle Berry, Jerry Seinfeld Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Jordan. As for performances, there was; Beyonce, Jamie Foxx sang “Isn’t She Lovely” accompanied by Stevie Wonder and Josh Groban sang “Over the Rainbow”.
Oprah’s longtime partner´, Stedman Graham, also took to the stage to give her a loving message,
“Honey, you are so special,” he told her “I’m so happy for your success and so proud of you…It amazes me that I get to be around a woman who changes people’s lives everyday.”
The Oprah show has been highly influential and is one of the longest running daytime television talk shows in the US, such a spectacular farewell is certainly deserved. Rosie O’Donnell will be taking over Oprah’s studio with her own new show later this year. Oprah’s final show won’t actually air until the later this month, on the 25th.
