Digital Spy reports that “a Beverly Hills surgeon has claimed that he uses fat removed from liposuction operations to power his car.”
Dr Alan Bittner is under investigation from California’s public health department for allegedly turning his patients’ fat into biodiesel. It is against US law to use medical waste to run vehicles.
“The vast majority of my patients request that I use their fat for fuel – and I have more fat than I can use,” Bittner wrote on his website.
“Not only do they get to lose their love handles or chubby belly, but they get to take part in saving the Earth.”
The surgeons clinic and web site were closed down after his revelation.
On a positive note, this physicians lack of ethics and adherence to medical laws is bringing to light the rampant abuses in cosmetic surgery. On his website, this physician originally stated that he was board certified, misleading the public to assume that he was board certified in plastics. He is board certified in interventional radiology- a far cry from liposuction. Also, the poor to nil supervision of outpatient clinics is how this physician got away with letting unlicensed staff performing procedures in a factory-belt manner and converting bio-wastes into SUV fuel in his offices.
Some who are touting him as an innovator are not aware of the dangers of using bio-wastes and the potential for infecting his employees, patients or public.
