O.J. Simpson was sentenced yesterday to up to 33 years in prison for kidnapping and armed robbery stemming from a failed attempt to recover some sports memorabilia from two dealers in Las Vegas last year, the New York Times reports.
Before the judge handed down her decision, Simpson apologized for all the trouble he had caused. He also restated his belief that the items (which included trophies and photos of his family he claims were stolen from his Los Angles home years ago) he had sought in the hotel room were rightfully his.
Simpson will be eligible for parole in about nine years.
Simpson’s co-defendant Clarence Stewart was sentenced to a minimum of seven and a half years and a maximum of 27 years.
