Nicol Williamson who is known by John Osborne as “the greatest actor since Marlon Brando” has passed away at the age of 73 due to esophageal cancer. His son Luke revealed the news on Williamson’s website letting his fans know that he passed away on December 16th in Amsterdam. According to the media this is where he had been living for at least 20 years.
Luke also revealed that during this whole battle he stayed strong, didn’t complain and even managed to keep his wicked since of humor until the very end. Luke also states that he was with his dad when he passed and he was not in pain. His last words we I love you.
For those who you do not know Williamson was Scottish and he became known in 1964 when he appeared in London in “Inadmissible Evidence”. Later when it went into Broadway he was nominated for a Tony Award during the year 1966.
Nicol Williamson has also been in stage productions such as “Hamlet” and “Uncle Vanya”. He also received a nomination for a Tony for these performances. However, he is best known for his roles in “Excalibur”, “The Exorcist III” and “Spawn”.
Before he passed away he was also working on a new music album.
