Actor Neil Patrick Harris is one of many to voice their happiness after news that the New York Senate passed the Marriage Equality Bill. Harris has often spoken out about his wish to marry his partner, David Burtka. So once the news was out Harris was quick to announce on Twitter the news that he and his partner had basically been engaged for years.
“It PASSED!” he Tweeted Friday night. “Marriage equality in NY!! Yes!! Progress!! Thank you everyone who worked so hard on this!! A historic night!!”
Then on Saturday he added;
“David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago!” wrote Harris. “We’ve been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date.”
Lady Gaga also took to Twitter upon hearing the news, “the revolution is ours to fight for love, justice+equality. Rejoice NY, and propose. We did it!!!”
Harris and Burtka are already parents to 8 month old twins born via a surrogate, a boy and a girl named Harper and Gideon.
