A “true legend of hip-hop and R&B” passed away yesterday (March 15). Also In the words of Snoop Dogg who paid tribute to his longtime friend via Twitter;
“… One of my best friends and a brother to me since 1986, when I was a sophomore…I love u buddy luv. U will always be with me forever and a day. You put the ‘G’ in G funk. You put the ‘1’ n 213. And you put yo stamp on everybody you ever did it with.”
Nate Dogg, his real name Nathaniel Hale, died as a result of complications from two strokes that he suffered from over the last couple of years. Although the actual cause of death is yet to be released.
Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Warren G began their careers in a rap trio in Long Beach called 213 in the early 1990s. During his career Nate Dogg released three albums, but he will be mostly remembered for his collaborations, he contributed to over 40 charted singles.
Ludacris tweeted: “There is a certain void in hip-hop’s heart that can never be filled. Glad we got to make history together.”
