More and More Women Open up About Harvey Weinstein Harassment

Two weeks ago, a movie producer Harvey Weinstein has been accused of sexual harassment by multiple women and the line is getting longer every day. Actresses come forward daily and talk about their experience over the span of three decades.

Sexual Harassment Allegations

Rose McGowan was the first to accuse him of rape but Weinstein denied.

Other accusations followed in days to come. Ashley Judd, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Eva Green, Mira Sorvino and Kate Beckinsale said he also invited them on a “private meeting in his suit” when they were a lot younger and tried to assault them but they managed to escape.

Unfortunately, a lot women weren’t so lucky. The Times reports that Weinstein had at least eight settlements with different women and Rose McGowan is one of them. So we can only read between the lines.

Keep Quiet or Say Goodbye to Your Career

Jane Fonda said in a CNNMoney interview she heard about his misbehavior last year and that she is sorry she didn’t speak up sooner but that she supports all women coming forward with sexual harassment allegations against Weinstein.

She heard this first from Rosanna Arquete, one of the 13 women who publicly spoke up about his misconduct. Fonda added she had been harassed as a young actress by a French producer and that it happens all the time everywhere and the community has to do something about it.

Back in 2005, Cortney Love tried to warn young actresses in Hollywood about Weinstein and said “If Harvey Weinstein invites you to a private party in the Four Seasons, don’t go.”

Her career suffered because of this statement because Harvey has very powerful friends and that’s how he frightened women, allegedly, to ruin them professionally. Both Rosanna and Mira Sorvino claim that they were removed or kept from being hired for projects after they rejected Harvey.

Women shouldn’t be afraid to speak up and fight for their rights and NYPD is starting an investigation into Harvey Weinstein.

Harvey’s Punishment

Harvey denies many of the accusations as patently false and that he is currently working with therapist to deal with this issue.

We’ll see what will the investigation unveil but for now, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science Board of Governors voted and expelled Harvey from the Academy due to this harassment scandal.

“We do so not simply to separate ourselves from someone who does not merit the respect of his colleagues but also to send a message that the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behavior and workplace harassment in our industry is over.”

Harvey has three children from his first marriage with Eve Chilton and two more with Georgina Chapman, the Marchesa designer.

Georgina left him immediately after his dirty habits came out and Weinstein Company fired him.
