Miramax Films Closes its Doors



Miramax will close down in both New York and Los Angeles today. This after the company has produced and distributed films for more than thirty years.
Founded in 1979, Miramax has housed and been responsible for such award winning classics as Pulp Fiction, as well as “The English Patient. Miramax was sold to Disney earlier. The name came from the first names of the founders parents. Today they were :

“I’m feeling very nostalgic right now,” Harvey Weinstein told The Wrap. “I know the movies made on my and my brother Bob’s watch will live on as well as the fantastic films made under the direction of Daniel Battsek. Miramax has some brilliant people working within the organisation and I know they will go on to do great things in the industry.”
About 80 people will be out of work

In addition the six movies which are in progress now, including one with superstar Keira Knightley will be released in a limited way or shelved.
