Mike Starr, the former bassist for Alice in Chains has been found dead in his home on Tuesday. His struggle with drugs has been no secret as he was part of the reality TV series “Celebrity Rehab”.
A statement has been released by his former band mates, Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney;
“Jerry and Sean are mourning the loss of their friend and ask that the media respect their privacy — and the privacy of Mike’s family — during this difficult time. Their thoughts & prayers are with Mike’s family.”
Alice in Chains, found success in the grunge scene during the 1990’s, the bands original singer died of an overdose in 2002. Starr played on their first studio album but he admitted on “Celebrity Rehab” that he was kicked out of the band in 1993 due to his drug problems. Mike Starr was only 44 years old.
