Matt Damon: The awards get it wrong more than they get it right

Matt Damon

In a new interview with Parade.com, actor and Academy Award winner Matt Damon says that the Academy gets it wrong most of the time.

On the question what his take on this year’s Academy Awards is, Damon says: “I think that the best way to judge movies is, like, 10 years after they’re released. I think they should actually do the awards that way. I think they should have done the Academy Awards this year for movies from 1998. I think it’s better to look at a movie and then step back and look at it again. I don’t think – that the awards necessarily get it right. I think they get it wrong more often than they get it right.”

In the interview, Damon also denies the rumor that he and actor Ben Affleck, who he won the Academy Award for “Good Will Hunting” with, will write another script together. The 37-year-old “Bourne” star says that he doesn’t know where that rumor came from, but that the two probably will do something together eventually.
