Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Becomes US No. 1 After 25 Years

The Christmas is approaching and we all know what that means – hearing Christmas songs everywhere.

She Did it!

One song that is definitely going to be stuck in your head this time around whether you like it or not is “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.

This Mariah Carey’s hit has topped the charts this year, despite it being 25 years since it was first released and never reaching the first place.

The 49-year-old pop diva shared the news with her followers, by telling them:

“We did it.”

This was her response to Billboard’s tweet that said: “@MariahCarey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is officially No. 1 on the #Hot100 for the first time this week, 25 years after its release.” The fans were happy about this achievement and congratulated her on it.

This is also Carey’s 19th number one hits on the popular charts, which makes her the second place to The Beatles, with 20 songs hitting the top spot.

Huge Numbers

According to Billboard, the song secured 45 million streams, 34 million radio plays and 27,000 digital sales in the past week alone.

Carrey talked about this tune which has now become a holiday classic in a New York Times interview:

“It’s something my die-hard fans think about, and people that are really close to me are talking to me about it literally all year. But I don’t need something else to validate the existence of this song.

I used to pick it apart whenever I listened to it, but at this point, I feel like I’m finally able to enjoy it. I just truly love the holidays – I know it’s corny, and I don’t care.”

It taking the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 just goes to show that people seem to can’t get enough of the iconic festive hit.
