Okay so WHY are we not shocked by this?? According to a study ( one we find a bit dumb on its own accord may we add) the least intelligent fans are those who listen to Beyonce and Lil Wayne. US Students were asked their favorite music artist, which was added to other data including their SAT scores, and the results showed these singers fans overall had the lowest scores. Beyonce fans were the second lowest and those who really scored down there.. were the fans of Lil Wayne.. QUELLE surprise!!

Generally people who listed classical music and those who listed Radiohead, Counting Crows and U2 as their favorites had exam scores which were above average.
I like both of these artists and I think it is clear why their fans have lower scores. The reason is most of the people that listen to these artists, myself included, are black. Of course the scores are gonna be lower because the areas that African-Americans live in usually have worse schools. So in turn, this poll does not say anything about the artists and their music, but instead about the failure of the education system when it comes to blacks such as myself.
So.. just assuming that the education system DID fail you.. the fact that all of the test scores came from the same school, is a bit odd, but additionally, why is it that Kanye West Fans, who might also be predominantly black, would score a bit better. Your answer SOUNDs good, but thats about it…
Number one the education system did not fail ME because I definitely did have above average scores on the SAT and ACT, the article said nothing about the demographics for the survey being from the same school or that Kanye West, a black artist, was also included in the artists whose listeners had higher test scores, and number three this article does not convince me that just because someone likes listening to Beyonce or Lil Wayne that they are prone to be less intelligent than someone that listens to U2….if you dont like that type of music that’s one thing everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i think its very uncouth to try to deem yourself or anyone else more intelligent than someone else because of the type of music that they listen to. For all I know from the school there were more people that like Lil’ Wayne and Beyonce, and the more people there are the less intelligent that group becomes.
It’s all about sub-cultures. And yes, some sub-cultures are smarter than others.
my SAT score were well above average, 700 in math section, 700 in reading section, and 650 in writing . making it a 2010. and i greatly enjoy listening to little wayne. I believe this poll is flawed. Mainly due to the fact that students from a lesser educational background to a flawed national educational policy will be more likely to listen to lil wayne than classical music or U2.
