Katy Perry Livestreams Suicidal Thoughts and Addiction

Katy Perry has just released her new album ‘Witness’ a few days ago.

She livestreamed all sorts of things last weekend in order to promote it. She shared videos of herself dancing, doing yoga, hosting celebrity guests on YouTube for 96 hours but the thing that shocked her fans was her last emotional stream on Sunday night.

Nothing she did so far was personal as the therapy session with the celebrity psychologist Dr Siri Sam Nam, a host of “The Therapist”, a reality show about mental health. Katy really exposed herself and focused on her self-image. She talked about her feeling caught between two personas: her real self, known to her family and friends, Katheryn Hudson, and the super star, Katy Perry, she created.

Katy Perry vs Katheryn Hudson

She mentioned that she was in regular therapy for five years, trying to reconcile her public and private image. She confessed that she hadn’t felt old Katheryn Hudson, a Christian girl from Santa Barbara, was anything special. She felt she wasn’t enough and felt she had to create the character of Katy Perry which is great at everything.  Her dearest ones attended the therapy with her and that helped her family become closer.

“I’m really strong as Katy Perry and sometimes I’m not as strong as Katheryn Hudson,” she said.

She also confessed that she battled alcoholism and that at the time of that struggle she had suicidal thoughts. She even wrote a song about it By the Grace of God which appeared on her album “Prism” in 2013. She now feels ashamed that she felt so down and depressed.

“Because, of course, Katy Perry’s so strong,” she said, referencing her bigger than life personality, “I feel ashamed that I would have those thoughts, that I’d feel that low and that depressed.”

Bold Chop Explained

When asked about her bold chop earlier this year she explained why she wanted to change her hairstyle and appearance in general.

“I so badly want to be Kathryn Hudson that I didn’t want to look like Katy Perry anymore.”

“I really want to be my authentic self, 100 percent,” she added.

Fans have gone wild on social networks after the shocking stream, rushing to express their support and respect. It is believed that thanks to this emotionally exposed video session her new album is already topping the charts.
