Karen Gillan has been chosen to play the companion to Matt Smith’s Doctor Who. Gillan was in an episode of the program once before, called ‘The Fires of Pompeii’. You might also recognise her from the Kevin Bishop Show but, like Matt Smith, the next Doctor, she hasn’t been in an awful lot of things previously.
Steven Moffat, the new executive producer for the show, said this of the 22 year old Gillan;
‘We saw some amazing actresses for this part, but when Karen came through the door the game was up. Funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it. A generation of little girls will want to be her. And a generation of little boys will want them to be her too.’
Well, it sounds promising. We’ll have to wait and see.
