Easy Rider actress Karen Black was diagnosed with cancer nearly two years ago, and sadly yesterday she lost her battle aged 74.
Karen Black’s husband Stephen Eckelberry announced the news on his Facebook page yesterday. He wrote, “It is with great sadness that I have to report that my wife and best friend, Karen Black has just passed away, only a few minutes ago. Thank you all for all your prayers and love, they meant so much to her as they did to me.”
Black was famous in the 1970’s and stars took to their Twitter accounts to pay their respects as soon as the news broke of her death yesterday. Mia Farrow who appeared in The Great Gatsby along with Black simply wrote, “Wonderful Karen Black rest in peace.”
Bette Midler wrote, “Karen Black, brilliant, unpredictable, dead at 74” and Kirstie Alley wrote, “RIP Karen Black you were instrumental in my career, it was a pleasure knowing you.”
