Justin Guarini, the first American Idol runner up (the guy who lost to Kelly Clarkson), will soon be making his Broadway debut. He will be playing a role in ‘Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown’.
The show will open on November 4th. Preview runs of the show will take place the month before, in October.
Other actors in the play include Sherie Rene Scott, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Laura Benanti and Patti LuPone, all acting and Broadway veterans.
Guarini hasn’t had much musical success since his loss to pop star Kelly Clarkson. He did star in a movie opposite Clark in 2004, titled From Justin To Kelly, but is was a disappointment. It looks like Guarini is looking to make a come back of sorts.
American Idols have done pretty well on Broadway. Fantasia Barrino, who won Season 3, starred in The Color Purple, which had a successful run. Jordin Sparks, winner of Season 6, also had a role in the Broadway musical ‘In The Heights’, which won a Tony award.
