Popstar Justin Bieber has been attracting his fair share of bad press lately due to his increasingly strange behaviour, but it appears as though the teenage heartthrob does have a charitable side as he has been in the Guatemala Jungle helping give something back to a community less fortunate than himself.
Bieber, 19, was in Guatemala City for a concert at the weekend, but he took time out to help the Pencils of Promise Charity, a charity that help build schools for deprived and less fortunate communities. Pictures on the website tmz.com show Bieber striped to the waist helping build a wall, with other pictures showing him take off his shoes and giving them to a local boy.
Bieber was clearly moved by his experience as he posted a video on his own blog later that evening and said, “I’m not talking about poor, I’m talking about 10 people living in a little shack.” He went on to add, “one of the most amazing powerful experiences of my life. I feel like they helped me as much as I helped them.”
It just goes to show even people like Justin Bieber have a softer side and are prepared to give up their own time to help people who literally have nothing. It is just a shame he is in the press for the wrong reasons more often than not, rather than news stories like this one.
