This all happened on “Live with Regis and Kelly” Monday:
Kelly told a story about how one of her children was learning about the political parties at school, and that her kid had told her that the elephant represented the Republicans and the donkey represented the Dominicans.
Regis and the audience found this little anecdote to be quite funny, but a Dominican-American group did not like it at all. In fact, according to TMZ.com, the group is demanding an apology from the show, saying that Regis ”practically agreed with laughter…”
The rumor also has it that both Dominican-American and Latino leaders are planning to stage some kind of a protest outside the New York studio where the show airs.
f**k you regis and kelly.
I saw that segment as well and did not interpret it as donkeys are representative of the Dominicans but that her child who is only 6 years old used the word Dominican instead Democrats because it was a word she is familiar with and sounded correct. For example, I heard a child who thought a bikini was a tropical fruit because it sounds like kiwi. I am impressed that she even knew the word Republican.
