Fashion designer John Galliano, Christian Dior’s creative director has been fired after he made anti-Semitic and racist comments. A video tape from last December has surfaced in which Galliano expressed pro-Hitler sentiments.
There has been widespread condemnation of Galliano’s comments. Oscar winning actress Natalie Portman has spoken out via a statement;
“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video” Portman also said, “In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.”
Natalie Portman has been the face of Miss Dior Cherie perfume, but she now wants it to be clear that she has no connection with Galliano.
Galliano himself has now made a statement via his lawyers;
“Anti-Semitism and racism have no part in our society. I unreservedly apologize for my behavior in causing any offence.”
