JK Rowling, the creator of Harry Potter has dropped her longtime literary agent Christopher Little, it has been announced. Little has been her agent from the very beginning of her success with the Harry Potter series. He was the agent who signed Rowling when she was a 32 year old single mother and a first time author. Little has been her agent for sixteen years and he has been instrumental in helping to create a $1.5-billion empire.
“This was a painful decision, especially as Ms Rowling had actively sought a different outcome for some weeks,” said a statement issued on her behalf.
A spokesman for Mr Little confirmed the news and also issued a statement;
“He is disappointed and surprised to have heard the premature news about the proposed new arrangements.”
Rowling has already moved onto a new agent, he is actually Little’s former business partner, lawyer Neil Blair. He helped set up the novelist’s recently initiated Pottermore web site, which will exclusively control digital sales of all the Harry Potter books, publish previously unreleased Potter material online, and sell Potter-related merchandise.
