In 2008, Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew were gunned down in cold blood. The trial is beginning now, in 2012. Hopefully with this amount of time passed, they have solid evidence to put the shooter away for life.
The alleged shooter is Jennifer’s sister’s ex-husband, William Balfour. At the time of the incident, the two were married.
While the mother and brother were adults, the nephew was a young child. He was found in the stolen SUV that Balfour took from the Hudson home after the slaying, shot and lying behind the front seats.
While it is unclear how this horrendous act was instigated, the prosecutors offer up a rage of jealousy.
Balfour came to the house and saw a gift of balloons. It is reported that he assumed the gift was from his (at the time) wife’s lover. The sister left to go to work, but Balfour remained at the house, lingering.
The judge on the case has asked the jurors to remain unbiased in their verdict and to ignore the famous relative of the murder victims. However, two of the jurors have reportedly dealt with family members being murdered.
Balfour is charged with 3 counts of first degree murder for the October slayings.
Jennifer’s sister says that her ex threatened her family and her on many occasions but never acted on it. She didn’t take him seriously when he said “if you leave me, I’ll kill you, but first I will kill your family”.
Jennifer is said to be ready to sit through all testimony during the case.
We hope some justice will be dealt and that Jennifer and her family may find some closure after sentencing.
