Jennifer Aniston has recently joined Instagram and by doing so she broke a Guinness World Record.
Off to a Record Start
The Friends star posted a photo with her former castmates Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer as her first-ever Instagram photo.
In the caption, she wrote “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM.”
People began to follow her as soon as possible and in 24 hours she gained over 8 million followers.
The actress became the quickest user to reach 1 million followers on her Instagram account. According to the Guinness World Records, she gained one million followers in five hours and 16 minutes, making it a world record.
The previous record-holders were Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who achieved the feat in five hours and 45 minutes, who reached 1 million follower count in five hours, 45 this April.
No Stopping!
Aniston went on to amass over 15 million followers since then and already has more followers than the royal couple.
Not only did she break the record, but also the app itself.
Her Instagram debut caused the platform to malfunction, and some people were having issues following her profile, though it has now been resolved.
The Hollywood star acknowledged the glitches with a funny clip in which her character slams the phone down on a table while getting her make-up done.
In the caption of this post, she wrote “I swear I didn’t mean to break it…Thanks for the kind, glitchy welcome everyone.”
Everyone was excited about her joining the Instagram, with many fans commenting “finally” in response to her Instagram debut.
Some celebrity friends welcomed her to the social media platform too, including ex-husband Justin Theroux, Kerry Washington, Charlize Theron, and Oprah.
Besides seeing her on social media platforms, fans will get a chance to see Aniston back on their TV screens in her new drama series The Morning Show, where she’ll star alongside Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell.
