Jeff Conaway, star of Grease, Taxi and then more recently ‘Celebrity Rehab’ died today after being in a coma since May 11. Conaway has had a long and very public struggle with drug and alcohol addiction.
The actor was found unconscious in his home earlier this month, in hospital he fell into a coma. Conaway was suffering from pneumonia and sepsis, blood poisoning. Reports claim that he had tried to treat himself with pain and cold medicines rather than seek medical aid. His family had to make the terrible decision to take him off life support after it became clear that he had no brain activity.
One of his managers, Kathryn Boole spoke about Conaway’s battle with addiction;
“It’s sad that people remember his struggle with drugs. … He has touched so many people…. “He was trying so hard to get clean and sober,” Boole added. “If it hadn’t been for his back pain, I think he would have been able to do it.”
