Jamie Foxx returns to Netflix to star in Day Shift.
Aspiring Vampire Comedy
According to Variety, the 52-year-old actor will star as a hard-working, blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 8-year-old daughter.
His mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income: hunting and killing vampires.
In addition to starring in it, the Oscar winner will also produce Day Shift, which is the directorial debut of JJ Perry.
The script was written by Tyler Tice, and the project is expected to debut on Netflix next year.
Upcoming Projects
Previously, Foxx starred in Project Power, and is also producing the upcoming thriller They Cloned Tyrone and the series Dad Stop Embarrassing Me. His other future projects include Blumhouse’s Spawn; and the Taylor Hackford-directed Johnnie Cochran film Signal Hill. The actor will also be voice acting in the upcoming Disney Pixar movie, Soul.
Foxx seems especially excited for the upcoming untitled Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel, so much so that he leaked that he will be returning to his role as Electro in the Tom Holland-led film. He, of course, deleted the post later, but not before fans had already taken screenshots and made it viral.
This is the second time that he will be playing the arch nemesis to the web-darting hero, which he first did in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a 2014 film, where Andrew Garfield was in the titular role.
“Tell Spidey let’s run it back,” Foxx wrote in the now-deleted post.
The actor, who had played jazz legend Ray Charles in Ray, wrote in a way that seemed as if he’s challenging Spider-Man for another battle.
He even spoiled a key detail about his appearance in the film, saying in this one “I won’t be blue.”
