Pop star, Katy Perry and British comedian, Russell Brand have released statements confirming that they are set to divorce after just 14 months of marriage. The pair spent Christmas and New Year on opposite sides of the planet and reportedly they have both been spotted without their wedding rings.
Perry and Brand got engaged in December 2009 and married last October in India. But last Friday Brand filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences” for the breakdown of his marriage to Katy.
Their busy schedules and spending long periods apart is said to be part of the cause for their split. But it is also being reported that Russell who has been sober for years now wasn’t nearly as interested in the party scene as Perry and this led to lots of arguments.
Russell said in a statement: “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
Let’s hope that carving up their sizable fortunes in the divorce settlement doesn’t change that!
