A former hospital worker has pleaded guilty to selling the medical files of celebrities including Britney Spears and Farah Fawcett.
Lawanda Jackson, 49, received at least $4,600 from the National Enquirer for the UCLA Medical Center records, reports The AP.
Prosecutors said Jackson worked at the hospital for 32 years, but only recently started selling the files. Checks from the newspaper reportedly started appearing in her husband’s bank account in 2006.
Jackson, who faces sentencing in May, could net a bit more than she bargained for, with her sentence possibly being up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The former UCLA Health Systems employee, whose photo we cannot find, was indicted on Nov. 17 for inappropriately accessing 71 celebrity medical records. Spears, pictured above is one of the celebrities who’s privacy was breached.
