The Hollywood legend Micky Rooney has passed away at home aged 93 after suffering from a long term illness.
Rooney first shot to fame when he was just 18 months old when he appeared on stage with his parents, and from then his career took off to such an extent that by the mid 1960’s he had starred in over 200 films and made in excess of $3billion.
Stars of screen and stage have been quick to pay tribute to Rooney with Margaret O’Brien saying, “He was undoubtedly the most talented actor that ever lived. There was nothing he couldn’t do,” with Rose Marie, a close friend and allies of Rooney saying, “I shall miss him and the world shall miss him.”
Rooney was somewhat of a ladies man during his career marrying eight times in total, and he was once asked if he would marry each one of them again to which he replied, “Absolutely. I loved every one of them.”
Mickey Rooney’s motto was “never retire but inspire”, a motto that will no doubt inspire many people to greater things. All the team at Hot Gossip would like to pass on their condolences to the family of Mickey Rooney at this sad time. RIP Mickey Rooney.
