This past Monday it was switch up week on Dancing with the Stars! This means that the viewers had previously voted for which star they wanted to see with which pro. It was definitely a great night of competition. With near perfect scores, to the first perfect score of the season! Things were definitely different in the ballroom, and not only with the dancers and their partners for the week. Although there was no elimination this week, the dancers and their star partners competed to keep them safe from next week’s elimination. The dances, as Julianne Hough let America know Monday night, are now double the time that the previous week’s dances were. Plus, Maksim Chmerkovskiy is back in the ballroom, this time helping judge this week’s dances.
One of the most notable dances include Hayes Greer and Allison Holker and their Viennese waltz. Allison revealed last week that she is expecting a new addition to her family, and is currently four months pregnant. They scored a total of 30, although there was a moment when they thought that Bruno Tonioli turned in an 8 and held up a 7.
Paula Deen with switch up partner Mark Ballas was another notable dance. They scored the lowest of the night with their hilarious old style jive, but the judges had to agree it was her best dance yet. She also flashed the judges under her skirt with her bejeweled under garments that read “SHAKE”.
The competition continues with married competitors Alexa Vega and Carlos PenaVega. Carlos and his regular partner Witney Carson were in jeopardy last week, and this week he definitely redeemed himself with his switch up partner Lindsay Arnold. Earning a near perfect score with three tens from the regular judges and a sad nine from guest judge Maks. However, Alexa Vega then performed her Tango with switch up partner Derek Hough. She blew the judges away (with Derek’s confidence boosting techniques, of course) and she was the one to receive the first perfect score of the season, just one point above her husband, Carlos.
Next week, another star will sadly be leaving the ballroom. Olivia Newton John will also be joining the judges for a night of paying tribute to music videos.
