Group of Republican women is boycotting Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey

A group of Republican women from Florida doesn’t seem to have their priorities straight.

Instead of focusing on the really important political issues such as healthcare, homeland security, social security, the environment. economics, civil rights (the list goes on and on), the group is boycotting Oprah Winfrey, her talk show and her magazine because she won’t have Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin on her show until after the election.

Oprah, who is endorsing Barack Obama and who has even campaigned for him, says she does not want to make her show a platform for the candidates and that she would love to have Palin on her show after the campaign is all over, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

A spokeswoman for Oprah’s company, Harpo Productions, said Harpo would have no comments on the boycott.

Since Oprah Winfrey herself is worth over $2.5 billion, (as of September, 2007, according to Forbes), we don’t think she is too worried about this whole thing. She will probably still be one of the most powerful celebs in the world, for a few more years to come…

I think these women are doing what women all over the world are finally doing. We are standing up for ourselves. We will not accept second-class treatment and we will certainly not accept the fraud that Oprah Winfrey has exposed herself to be.

You’d have to be deaf AND blind to not notice how this racist side of Oprah has been showing itself more and more the last 5-10 years.

It’s fine to be black first and a woman second if that’s how you feel — but let’s say that right up front Oprah — don’t deceive us to build your fortune. Would Oprah be in the same place today had she been truthful e.i. Black first, Woman second?

Oprah Winfrey has PRESENTED HERSELF as being “one” with all women. And guess what? She’s black first, THEN she’s a woman. That’s racism before feminism So disappointing.

Oprah, like Obama, seemed like a person to form the beautiful bridge between blacks and whites once and for all. By her actions regarding Gov. Palin, she has just opened the wound once again and the divide of scar tissue just got thicker and stronger.

I am afraid Obama may be more of the same. Why is a man who is half white and half black only identified as a black man? Wouldn’t his embrace of BOTH his races have been the perfect beginning to racial peace and equality?

I think this is America we have choices to make if Oprah made a decision not to have ANY canidate on her show then why are you so upset because she isn’t going to interview Sarah until after the election. Obama has not been on her show since he announced he is running for President, so how is she being bias? lets not rush to judgement on this one. What will WE Gain by boycotting her show/magazine? nothing at all just maybe a ulcer LOL
just do what you must do in November ok, speaking of Obama being black I think the white race deceided not to embrace people of mixed blood, race shouldn’t matter anymore but it does to (us)the white race. When it is all said and done what’s inside a person heart is all that matters. Lets stop sweating the small stuff there is so much going on in our world today that what oprah does or doesn”t do doesn”t is small stuff

I could care less about who Oprah has on her show, but she has the right to have on whomever she wishes. If Oprah had chosen to have Obama on her show after his announcement to run for President I would be offended and feel she was playing favorites. Her announcement of NO candidates till after the election was over is up front and honest and true to HER convictions. Eight years of Bush and Chaney has devastated our country. All the right wing, bible thumpers who voted Republican in the previous election have FORCED the rest of the country to live with your poor and ignorant choices. I am truly appalled that you would consider Palin qualified to be VP let alone be President of the United States. It’s very hard to believe that ya all would fall for McCain’s last ditch hype to cast her as his running choice when there were so many other QUALIFIED candidates to choose from. Vote on QULIFICATIONS AND ISSUES NOT GENDER AND RACE!!!!!!

As women, we need to support each other, not inferiority. Sarah Palin is an insult to the other three republican governors who were not considered for the position. If women support a candidate simply because of her gender, we are no better than the men. Furthermore, palin’s positions don’t support ALL women. I concur with Oprah. Since she won’t submit to questioning until AFTER the election, then Oprah has a right to refuse an interview until after the election. Two can play that game! I give Oprah credit for not giving in to pressure. Oprah will not be affected by the boycott. Many of us (republican women) are not in support of Palin.
