Gary Glitter, the slightly tarnished golden boy 80’s rocker, has finally come home to roost so to speak in the UK, after a whirlwind tour of Asia that had him racking up the frequent flier miles but not many welcomes from those countries.
In the aftermath of his release from prison after serving almost three years for child molesting, Glitter took advantage of a layover that happened in Bangkok and refused to board the flight again. He spent the night in the airport there and was deemed persona non grata and required to leave.
So far, it seems that a total of 19 nations have refused him entry, leaving him but one choice. He can come home to England, the only country which cannot deny him entry because his is a national.
Glitter (see here for the 80’s rockers profile) has announced he will work from England to “clear his name” after the travesty of justice that put him in prison.
Thanks for the link. I was trying to remember who this guy was. Now I got It. He was a pretty popular singer in the day. Hard to believe some of them end up like this.
LOL I remember this guy sadly enough.. I can’t say that I blame all these countries for asking him to stay out. I don’t think I’d be feeling too welcoming to someone who was a threat to my kids.
