A giant cigarette lighter has reportedly spurred a massive police manhunt in China.
According to Ananova, local officials in Nanjing responded en masse after a man was reported to be walking the streets of the city carrying a hunting rifle.
“We sent out six patrol cars immediately, trying to stop the man before anything bad happened,” a police representative is quoted as telling the Yangste Evening Post.
However, after detaining their suspect, the officers discovered that the apparent hunting rifle was actually a giant cigarette lighter that emitted a small blue flame when the trigger was pulled.
“The man was obviously very scared and said the gun was only a toy lighter, which he just won as an award in a restaurant,” added the spokesperson.
Officers confiscated the item and gave the man an official warning about scaring members of the public before letting him go..
Wow.. and he wasn’t even smoking.
