Game of Thrones Co-Stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie Tie the Knot

The Game of Thrones actors, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, tied the knot on Saturday in a church service near the Wardhill Castle in Scotland.

John Snow and Ygritte

While anticipating the new and final season of a smash hit TV series Game of Thrones announced for 2019, fans received some great news over the weekend.

Kit who plays Jon Snow got married to Rose who played his Wildling lover Ygritte. Ygritte was a courageous warrior that caught Snow’s on-screen love interest until she was killed in season four. The couple, both 31-year-old, met on the set of the show and started dating in 2012.

They tried to keep their relationship under the radar and first went public as a couple in 2016 on the red carpet at the Olivier Awards in London. The engagement was announced in September 2017 in The Times of London. Harington admitted in an interview that he botched the proposal, but luckily, Leslie didn’t mind.

“I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff, but we were in the country and we were sort of under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and … I popped my question a bit early.”

The Wedding

Leslie is a descendant of King Charles II and the 12th-century castle in Aberdeenshire has been in her family for the past 900 years so it was logical they held their wedding there.

The bride wore a long sleeve stunning ivory lace dress with floral appliques and the groom wore a long black jacket over a cream vest, black tie and grey pinstriped pants. The bride was accompanied to the altar by her father Sebastian Leslie, an Aberdeenshire councillor and the chief of the ancient Leslie Clan, appropriately dressed in a traditional Scottish kilt.

The two wed in front of family and friends, including Game of Thrones co-stars Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke. Turner and Williams, who play sisters Sansa and Arya Stark are best friends in real life and they arrived at the wedding together. Other guests spotted at the castle included Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons and his brother Jason Mumford and actress Malin Ackerman.

Kit continues filming as Jon Snow, who will play a big role in the final season as his lineage has finally been revealed and a long-running theory confirmed. Although the eight season will be the final of Game of Thrones, five prequel series are in development.
