Takeru Kobayashi, a former eating champion was taken into police custody when he attempted to jump on the stage at a Nathan’s International Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Kobayashi was not able to take part of this years contest because of a contract dispute with Major League Eating (MLE). After the winner was announced, Joey Chestnut, Takeru tried to jump on the stage and was then arrested by the NYPD.
Several charges were leveled against Kobayashi, including obstructing governmental administration, trespass and resisting arrest. No word on why Takeru charged the stage. Maybe he was peeved that a new winner was being crowned.
