Eartha Kitt–former Cat Woman Dies at Age 81

The singer, actress, dancer and cabaret star died yesterday in Connecticut her publicist confirmed.

Kitt, who was born on a cotton plantationin 1927 started as a dancer, but became best known for her singing voice and seductive acting.

She is credited with ‘Let’s Do It’, ‘Under The Bridges of Paris’ and the Christmas favorite ‘Santa Baby’.

She scored another top 40 hit in 1989, when she released ‘Cha Cha Heels’ with British synth-pop group Bronski Beat.

She was quite famed for her role as Catwoman in the original 1960s Batman TV series.

Kitt was treated for cancer two years ago, but her cancer returned after a remission.

She had been performing until two months ago,” her publicist Andrew Freedman told Reuters. “We had dates booked through 2009.”
