That was apparently the hope this year, when Melton men were given vouchers for free beer that could be used at many of the local pubs. The effort was to get them to spend more money in their local area at Christmas.
Leicestershire town offered free beer vouchers that could be swapped i for free alchohol and a service was also available to wrap their presents while they sucked down the free brew.
“This event is part of the Melton town centre partnership’s ‘Think Melton Shop Melton’ campaign and forms a key element of the Christmas promotion for the town to encourage shoppers back into our high street,” a town spokesperson offered to the media.
The offer ran until Christmas Eve, and also included music and free street entertainment as well as free brew.
